SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) – Authorities in Puerto Rico say a tourist from North Carolina has drowned on a small island near the U.S. territory.

Police say 69-year-old Harold Sherman Pope Jr died on Thursday on Flamenco Beach in Culebra, a popular site with tourists.

Authorities say they don’t immediately have a hometown for the victim.
