Mecklenburg County soccer teams flex their muscle Thursday night

A boys high school soccer team from Mecklenburg County will play in the 2018 state championship game.

Four Mecklenburg County teams advanced to regional semifinals with wins Thursday night. They are the only remaining western 4A teams.

The western regional champion will play the eastern champion in the state final next week.

On Thursday, Myers Park beat Independence 3-0, Hough beat Pinecrest 4-1, South Meck beat Winston-Salem Reynolds 4-1 and Providence beat Ardrey Kell 3-1.

On Saturday, Myers Park will play at Hough and Providence will play at South Meck. The winners go to the state semifinal.
